      A G Fronzoni

Angiolo Giuseppe Fronzoni (Pistoia, 1923 – Milan, 2002) has been involved in interior design, exhibition design, design and graphics since 1945. Defined as the master of minimalism, he is internationally renowned for his posters: emblematic are those designed for Fontana, for Ponti, and for the Museo Sperimentale (Experimental Museum) of Turin.
His best-known projects include the restyling of the magazines «Casabella» (1965) and «Area» (1999), the layout designs for Palazzo Balbi (1966) and for the Arte e Città series of events held in Genoa, for which he also designed the graphics (1978-1983).
Architectural works include the Chianese House in Monterosso (1967), the Biagetti House on the island of Capraia (1974), and the Walser Museum in Alagna Valsesia (1976), which won the Zanotti Bianco prize. In the field of industrial design, the Forma Zero suitcase (Valextra), the Series 64 furniture (Cappellini), or the Quadra lamp (Viabizzuno) are worthy of note.
As from 1967, he began his teaching activity (for over twenty years he was at the ISA in Monza) and in 1982, he founded his own school-workshop in Milan. He has participated in numerous festivals and exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, winning important awards.
His works have been exhibited or are hosted in the collections of countless museums worldwide including: the German Poster Museum (Essen), the National Museum (Warsaw), the Muzeum Narodowe (Warsaw), the Moravská Galerie (Brno), the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam) and the MoMA (New York).

The Fund consists of a collection of original posters, the result of a donation made on the occasion of the exhibition organised in 1992 at the AIAP Gallery. It has been implemented over the years by various acquisitions of printed and editorial materials, such as a series of the «Casabella» magazine, as well as Fronzoni’s projects carried out for AIAP.
